Welcome to The Gynt Project, a two-year, interdisciplinary collaborative engagement at UC Santa Cruz with Henrik Ibsen’s epic masterpiece, “Peer Gynt.” This site will host ideas, images, travelogues, and sneak previews of our work, posted by Project Director Kimberly Jannarone and the Gyntian collaborators–professionals, UCSC undergraduates, faculty, MFA students, and our international team of dramaturgs and artists.
What fun! Way back when, some music school buds and I had an idea (sadly never executed) to break out smuggled sackbuts and crumhorns at the appointed time in Denny’s. I’m in favor – on principle – of this sort of thing happening more and more everywhere.
I see unsuspecting UCSC shuttle buses, I smell mushrooms, I hear crumhorns announcing the advent of the trolls…
Reindeer leaping and boar riding !
Castles in the air and kingdoms under the ground…
