Gynt, the Album: Studio Cast Recording
An album of barroom folk rock, electro-funk, gothic soundscapes, and sweet melodies.
Composer, arranger, and band leader Eric Parson (of Skinny Ricky and the Casual Encounters), alongside soundscape artist Chris Molla (founding member of Camper Van Beethoven), and UCSC music professor Ben Carson, worked with a team of musicians and artists to develop the music and sound for “Peer Gynt.”
This stand-alone album comes from their work. It takes you on Peer Gynt’s journey, from a polka inspired by the valley where Peer was born, to modern arrangements of Edvard Grieg’s incidental music, with heartbreaking love songs, gritty blues, eerie soundscapes, and underwater funk in between.
The Gynt Band was:
Accordion, Guitar, Viola, Vocals, Band Leader: Eric Parson
Bass: Mikael Witte
Percussion: Caleb Blondet-Fraser
Keyboards: Laura Wisdom
“Gynt, the Album” was produced by Kimberly Jannarone and mixed by Eric Parson.
The entire album is downloadable at cdbaby.
Album cover design: Lisa Banks
